Night Swimmer; original oil painting by Jessica Fairley

She moves through the water and the water moves around her. Night Swimmer captures a woman mid-stroke in luminous turquoise — her dark hair fanning out behind her, one arm reaching forward, her body half-dissolved into swirling light and shadow just beneath the surface.

Painted in oil, this figurative piece is as much about the water as the swimmer. The rich teal and aquamarine tones shift and shimmer around her form, the light refracting through the surface in loose, expressive brushstrokes that give the painting a sense of real movement and breath. It is intimate and quietly powerful — a painting about freedom, the body in motion, and the particular feeling of being suspended in a California pool in the summertime.
